Pushpa Tangle is 30 years old. She lives with her three sons in a room in the slum. Her husband died one and a half years ago. Her family is considered very poor, even by slums' standards. Her oldest son (15 years old) is the only one working in the family, at a hotel, for about 20 rupees a day (around 50 cents). They cannot afford to pay for basic utilies, such as electrical power. As it happens for many families living in the slums, Pushpa has no control over her sons, so they ended up abandoning school. The other 2 kids she has spend their days wandering around with their friends.
